Lt Gov Elect Brian Calley advocates for reforming Michigan insurance law to require insurers to cover proven treatments for autism. He discusses the benefits of the legislation for Michigan taxpayers as well as children with autism. Calley also reflects on his family's personal journey with autism.

Parent Sign-up Form STatewide Autism Resources & Training is sponsoring several workshops aimed at helping parents, teachers, administrators and others on educational strategies, positive behavior interventions and supports and peer-to-peer strategies that can be used with students on the Autism Spectrum. Parent-Assisted Social Skills Group The MSU Psychology Clinic is offering a Parent-Assisted Social Skills Group for children with Aspergers Syndrome, high-functioning children autism, or related conditions ages 7 to 12. Groups are designed for children with well-developed language skills who have difficulty with social interactions with peers and adults. Children will be pre-screened to determine whether the group is appropriate for their individual needs and skill level. The clinic is currently recruiting clients for groups that will begin in October 2011. A minimum of four children is required for a group to run. Pre-screenings are being conducted in August and September. Interested families should contact the Psych Clinic at 517-355-9564 by mid-September at the latest. Click the link for more information.
MMAA Supporting Siblings and Families Siblings of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have a much different perspective and life than those who do not have a brother or sister with autism. This website contains information and links for those individuals that have a close relationship to someone with autism.
